PES 2011 General Meeting Networking Activities
Welcome Reception
Take this opportunity to renew old acquaintances and meet more members of the power and energy community. Open to all registered General Meeting attendees and companions. Enjoy some adult beverages (cash bar and photo ID required for alcoholic beverage purchase) and great food in the beautiful GM Wintergarden foyer overlooking the Detroit River with a scenic vista of the Windsor, Ontario skyline to the south. GM World provides a closeup view of the current vehicle lineup of our Platinum Sponsor General Motors along with a sampling of classic and antique vehicles. Food includes an international sampling of cuisines from all the IEEE regions of the world:

Poster Sessions and
Meet the Candidates and New Fellows Reception
Mix some fun and learning at the poster sessions for T&D, PSO, Relaying, Switchgear, PSACE, Transformers, Substatoins, Marine Systems and Intelligent Grid. Informative displays of the latest technical papers are served up with plenty of food and beverage. Come and meet the authors and mingle with other attendees. Open to all registered General Meeting attendees and companions.
Awards Ceremony and Banquet
Join us for a banquet dinner where IEEE and PES award winners are honored for their outstanding achievements. Tickets are US$50 on-site. Vegetarian meals are available upon request. Seating is limited. Please visit the registration desk to purchase tickets. A cash bar serving beer and wine will open at 6:30 pm and be available thru dinner. Photo ID will be required to purchase alcoholic beverages.
Student Industry Faculty Luncheon and
International Job Fair for Students
The Student Industry Faculty Luncheon with the International Job Fair for Students is a much-anticipated highlight of the 2011 IEEE PES General Meeting.
Luncheon: 12:00-1:30 p.m. (doors open at 11:45 a.m.)
Awards will be presented to the students whose posters took prizes at the Monday Evening Student Poster Session. A keynote address by a highly-respected member of the profession will be given on a topic of interest to students. There will be drawings for student door prizes. Vegetarian meals will be available.
Job Fair: 1:30-3:00 p.m. following the luncheon and provides a forum for both employers and students who share a common interest in the power and energy industry to meet and discuss career opportunities.
Open to registered students, faculty and job fair sponsors only.
Reception and Seminar
hosted by Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD)
The Graduates of the Last Decade will host a reception and seminar to provide an opportunity for all conference attendees, in particular, current students as well as engineers who have graduated within the last ten years to network, to meet executives of IEEE PES, and make contacts among their peers in the power and energy engineering community. You can find out how you can contribute to PES and how it can help you. All registered General Meeting attendees and companions are invited. Light refreshments.
